Our Prayer Letter

PLEASE PRAY FOR THE ROSKO FAMILY

MISSIONARIES TO THE U.S. MILITARY IN SOUTH KOREA

Sending the Blessed Gospel Light to Camp Humphreys and all of Korea!

August 2008

Paul warns us in Ephesians 5:15-16 "See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise. Redeeming the time, because the days are evil." This Summer we have made a concentrated effort to use our time wisely. God has given us many opportunities to invest in eternity through the ministry of Lighthouse Baptist Church. The investment in people is of eternal value (Mark 8:36). This month another group of men and women will graduate our discipleship program. It is a precious event to witness Military men and women becoming disciples of Christ by applying the truths of God’s Word to their lives.

Another blessing is seeing men and women called into full time Christian service, while having many men called to preach in the last ten years. Recently, we had our first Korean man called to preach. Brother Sung Ho Moon surrendered the call to preach after hearing a sermon I preached on hell. For two years Brother Moon traveled two hours one way to church on Sunday and has recently relocated in order to be closer to the ministry. Please pray for him as he begins his training for the ministry this fall. South Korea is in desperate need of preachers who teach sound doctrine.

Many of you have been praying for my daughter, Michelle, on her mission trip. She has been ministering in an orphanage in Central Asia all summer. She has been working with teenage girls who speak mostly Russian. Michelle has been trying to learn the language but it has been frustrating in communicating the Gospel to the girls. However, God sent a translator and Michelle was able to lead six girls to the Lord. Michelle was amazed how God worked it all out!

On July 27, We celebrated 10 years on the mission field. Lighthouse Baptist Church celebrated 10 years of ministry by having Steve Meyer from Grace Baptist Church in Baumholder, Germany preach for us. He did a wonderful job challenging our folks concerning being steadfast and balanced in the ministry. We had a church planter, Mark Brockway, present his work for the Korean people of Gunsan. Also, alumni Keith Pease gave a special testimony in the evening service how the Lord used Lighthouse to direct him in the ministry. It was also great to have other alumni: Shane and Mary Finison, Sun Hee Won, and current members Chris and Sun Hee Simeone with us in the services.

Recently, one of our airmen who has been attending for sometime came forward during a preaching service realizing that his childhood profession was not authentic and with great conviction and tears he was gloriously saved! Please pray for Tracy’s spiritual growth.

On a personal note, my wife, Sue, began to have pain in her right knee. At times she barely was able to walk up and down the stairs to our fourth floor apartment without assistance. One month ago she began to have fluid injected into her knee to provide a cushion between the bones. The pain has been reduced and she is doing much better. As always, thank you for your prayers and support!
